Website Audit: What WebWasp Checks

WebWasp’s website audit gives you a small, practical starting point for improving public pages. It looks for specific detectable issues and explains the findings. It is not a malware scanner or a certificate that a website is secure.

What the first edition checks

The tool reviews up to three public HTML pages and a sample of eight additional internal links, within a short scan time limit. It looks for page titles and descriptions, a main heading, image alt attributes, a mobile viewport declaration, a page language and search indexing instructions. It can flag sampled internal destinations that return a not-found response.

Understand what a finding means

A missing description is a prompt to review the page’s search summary. A missing image alt attribute needs a content decision: meaningful images need appropriate descriptions, while decorative images can use an empty attribute. A noindex instruction may be intentional. The report gives you something specific to investigate; it does not make every decision about your website for you.

What it cannot inspect

This public check does not log in, open private installation files, inspect the database or review administrator accounts. It does not test payments, bookings, form delivery or complete accessibility. Content added by JavaScript may be missed. A problem not appearing in the report can therefore still exist. Suspected hacks need an appropriate recovery investigation.

A small sample, not a whole-site crawl

The page and time limits keep the check manageable on the existing hosting. The tool follows crawl instructions and restricts what it visits. A blocked request, redirect or timeout can prevent a page from being checked; that is not automatically proof that the page is broken for a visitor. Read the scope and any skipped-page information alongside the findings.

Response time is not loading speed

A server response measurement is different from the time a visitor waits for a complete interactive page. The first edition does not provide a full performance audit or a Lighthouse score. If speed is the concern, describe the affected page and device so a more suitable investigation can be scoped.

How to use your report

Start with findings that affect a visitor’s ability to reach useful content. Check the affected address, read the suggested next step and keep a copy of the report before making changes. You can download a text report from the tool. If you would like help, send the website address and the findings you want reviewed; there is no need to include account credentials.

Who can run a check?

Use the tool for a website you own or have permission to check. There is a short request limit to keep the service manageable. The audit does not use a paid search-results provider and does not discover brand mentions or backlinks. It uses the existing WordPress hosting, whose usage limits still apply.

Run your website check

Checks up to 3 public pages and a sample of 8 internal links. No login needed. No paid search API.
